  • A Gestapo was a secret police enforcer who directly worked for hitler. They would routinely go from door to door checking in on houses searching for hiding Jews.
  • Open up! Time for inspection its the gestapo's!
  • Oh no! We have to hide her!
  • During the 1940s Jews would have to constantly hide in order to stay safe from Nazis and Gestapos. There were many ways to resist the Nazis during this time period but one of the more common ways was to hide under or in furniture or even in an attic or basement.
  • Quick HIDE! The Gestapos are here... They can't find out you're Jewish
  • I will hide under the couch.
  • *Knock *Knock
  • Im sorry but I don't know what your talking about.
  • People went to great lengths to keep Jews hidden, and some people would do everything in their power to help keep Jews hidden and safe from the hands of the Nazis. Most of the Germans from this time period who weren't Jewish supported the Jewish and didn't like what Hitler was doing.
  • We have heard your hiding a Jew in here. Confess now or we will have to tear the whole place apart
  • I swear I don't know what your talking about!!
  • People would risk their life on a daily basis lying to the Nazis or Gestapos just to try and keep Jews safe. Gestapos and Nazis would regularly beat up or harass germans into telling them about any Jews they knew that were hiding out anywhere.
  • Tell ME where the JEW IS NOW!
  • During these altercations between Gestapos and German citizens accused of hiding Jews things would tend to get very violent. Ussually the Gestapos left houses in disarray or damaged after scavenging the whole property for Jews. It was also common for Gestapos to steal valuables from these houses.
  • I'll let you go this time but if I find out your lying you are dead!
  • Usually a task force of around 2-10 Gestapos would check between 20-30 homes a day.
