July 3, 1775, George Washington was appointed general of the Continental Army
Washington left for Massachusetts within days of receiving his commission and assumed command of the Continental Army in Cambridge on July 3, 1775. After eight years of war, Washington resigned his commission as Commander in Chief on December 23, 1783. An effect of this was that George Washington was allowed to fight in the war with higher authority which gave the Americans a better chance of winning the war, This influenced the Americans by having an experienced and well-fought general on their side, making The Americans more hopeful and thirsty for revenge.

Saratoga ended British general John Burgoyne's attempt to control the Hudson River Valley. The outcome convinced the Court of King Louis XVI that the Americans could defend themselves against the British Army, creating an alliance between America and France. The Americans secured a significant win that ultimately convinced the French to enter into an alliance with the United States against Britain. This caused the Americans to have a significant ally and powerful country on their side, giving them a massive boost in hope and supplies.
France officially recognized the United States, causing them to join the war on America’s side. The Americans officially had an ally, giving them a bigger chance of winning the war and making Britain more fearful. This also made the Americans more aggressive and hopeful for the war's outcome.

1783- Treaty of Paris (war officially over)
British General Charles Cornwallis capitulated with his force of approximately 8,000 troops to General George Washington at Yorktown, relinquishing any possibility of achieving victory in the Revolutionary War. America won the battle, ending the war. It shows the end of America’s fight for freedom, it changed everything as now the nations had their moment, and their everything.
Representatives from the United States and Britain agreed upon the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, concluding the American Revolutionary War.This was the official end of the war, proving that America was now a free nation and able to govern themselves however they wanted. It concluded the American Revolution and officially acknowledged the United States as a independant nation.
