  • In the opening of the play, we are introduced to 3 witches in a creepy abandoned house. In the house, the witches are planning to meet with Macbeth after they cast their spell.
  • Scene: 4
  • This scene displays the Sargent who is battling for the Duncan kingdom. Macbeth is displayed as a soldier who was hurt during the battle because he was fighting a horrible war.
  • Scene: 5
  • Three witches that Macbeth and Banquo meet foretell that Macbeth will rise to the position of Thane of Cawdor and eventually become king, while also claiming that Banquo's line will eventually inherit the throne. This meeting ignites Macbeth's ambition and the sinister journey he will take to carry out the witches' predictions.
  • Scene: 6
  • King Duncan arrives at Macbeth's castle and expresses admiration for its peaceful and welcoming ambiance, unaware of the dark intentions harboured by Macbeth and his growing ambition for power.
  • Lady Macbeth receives a letter from Macbeth revealing the witches' prophecies, and she resolves to manipulate and encourage her husband to seize the throne. Later, Macbeth arrives, and they discuss their plans while Lady Macbeth urges him to embrace his ambition and kill King Duncan.
  • King Duncan arrives at Macbeth's castle and is warmly welcomed by Lady Macbeth. They exchange pleasantries and compliments, unaware of the sinister plot unfolding behind the scenes. The scene serves to heighten the dramatic irony as the audience knows of Macbeth's murderous intentions while the characters remain oblivious.
