Storyboard Text

  • America's weak banking system led to bank failures. There was speculation that people's money was not safe anymore in 1929. This led many people to run to their banks to withdraw their saving. When they got to their banks, the doors had already closed!
  • NOOOO!!!
  • Where's my money?!?!
  • Their money was gone! They all stood outside the door stunned at how much they had lost.The banks tried calling in loans and sold assets to try and get money, however this led to frozen credit. The frozen credit then led to deflation. Deflation led to employers laying off their employees because they couldn't pay them anymore.

  • Since the employees weren't getting money, they couldn't buy anything. This forced companies to lower their prices. Many people were depressed until they started getting jobs once more. Later, the town started buzzing again once people got their first pay check after the bank closures.
