why is this so hard for me, and easy for everyone else?..
when I was in 6th grade, I picked up an instrument for the first time. A trumpet is what I chose. It was small, but still a brass instrument just like I wanted. I met a lot of people in there who were just starting too! so why did they sound so much more experienced than me?

I couldn't handle the fact all my other peers were growing, and I was staying in such a standstill. I decided to talk to my director, Mr. Spence, who gave me some words I will never forget, People grow at different rates, it just matters that you never stop. he told me to stop worrying so much as a beginner and even offered lessons for me.
From that day forward I started trying and trying, and I could finally keep up with my peers. I finally started to have FUN with my instrument and not see it as so much of a competition. This was for enjoyment, too! This became something I used to be connected with others. I would play for my family's birthdays, I would do gigs that earned me some cash, and I stayed involved with the community that came with band as I continued it all through high school and joined the marching band!
I ended up marching that year and going to every trumpet competition that was held and scored 20th out of 70 people. I look back on this moment, and it pushes me to do anything as long as I have the passion. I continue to pursue this in college as it stays a big part of my life. I still owe a big thanks to my teacher for pushing me to keep trying no matter what.

Until my senior year of high school, I was admitted to the hospital for several weeks because of a bacterium in my stomach. They told me there was a risk I would not be able to march again because of how much it had attacked my stomach.

I stayed in the hospital for weeks until I was finally able to be discharged, but all the words had gotten to me. I truly believed I would never be able to march or play my trumpet again. I even tried to play, and I sounded like I was back in sixth grade. I almost gave up until my friends told me what this years show was,
This year's show was called, Snapshot. based on the memories of the past and what you can make it, and that was when I knew I had to try.
