Chapter 2: The Nazis began to proliferate across Krakow's streets in this chapter. Tank-wielding Nazis patrolled the streets. They began enforcing new regulations for Jews after they conquered. Yanek is prohibited from leaving the house and is no longer able to attend school.

Who made the call there? That person was who? The detainees won't speak until they are spoken to.
Uncle Moshe! It's me, Yanek!
Chapter 9: Yanek is kidnapped in Chapter 9 while going about his business. Uncle Moshe was at the camp when he arrived, and he called out to him. This resulted with the kapo beating up another individual. The most significant advise was given to Yanek by Uncle Moshe. Yanek doesn't exist.

Chapter 14: Yanek's task in the Trzebinia concentration camp was to transfer rock mounds from one location to another and back again. In addition, he excavated six-foot-deep pits and filled them back in. Yanek claims that the Nazis view torturing them as a game, but he won't give up.
