- Entrapment
- An insight into a man trapped in a life who feels he is condemned to work. Dull and miserable vivid images are presented to show how unhappy Gregor is; however, he can’t change the course of his life because of the capitalist society he was forced upon.
- Gregor regards his family’s and deputy directors' views and opinions highly. Based on what they think, he could either feel relieved of responsibility or burden even more. He feels indebted and remains dutiful above all, thinking of his job over his sudden transformation.
- Although Gregor had now achieved some sort of freedom, pieces of his room were being removed along the way in order to accommodate him. In some terms, his humanity was slowly being stripped away.
- “immediately noticed the new amusement that Gregor had found for himself”“these days he had better control of his body” [para. 51]
- Tragic images of Gregor’s final moments -> Gregor’s efforts to provide for his family and suffering were overlooked by the people closest to him in a matter of a couple of days. After hearing his family’s plans to get rid of him, he locks himself in his room. To what level of sympathy does the family get? He still thinks of his family fondly, sure that he is a burden to them.
