- One day Proserpina the young maiden of spring, was picking wildflowers with her mother Ceres, the goddess of grain. Proserpina filled her basket with lots of flowers. But when she saw the white petals of the narcissus flower she got lost from her mother.
- When Proserpina picked the beautiful narcissus, the ground began to crack. Then out of the underworld came Pluto god of the underworld. Pluto quickly drove his horses towards Proserpina. The girl screamed for her mother, but Ceres was too far away and could not save her.Pluto grabbed Proserpina and drove his chariot back into the ground. Then the ground closed up.
- I pity you Ceres for i know what it is to lose a child. But I know the truth. Pluto wanted Proserpina for his wife, so he ask his brother Jupiter to give him permission to kidnap her. Jupiter said yes and know your daughter rules the underworld with Pluto.
- When the mountains echoed with Proserpina's screams, her mother rushed into the woods, but it was too late- her daughter had disappeared. Ceres began searching for her kidnapped daughter in every land. But for 9 days the goddess did not rest, but carried a torch through cold nights searching for Proserpina. On the tenth day Hecate, goddess of the moon, came to Ceres. She said I heard your daughters scream too but I didn't see her. Let me take you to Helios ,the sun god and ask him if he saw anything.
- Stupid woman! I was going to make your son a god so he could live for ever now he will die like the rest of you. I will only forgive you if you build a temple for me and when you are done I will help you grow corn.
- Ceres returns to earth disguised as an old lady. Super mad that Jupiter would help with the kidnapping of his own daughter. One day Ceres comes across 4 princesses getting water. ¨Where are you from old lady?¨ I was kidnapped by pirates and I escaped.¨ The princesses brought Ceres to there home.At the palace the queen really liked Ceres and when she notice how good she was with the baby prince, when Ceres asked to be his nurse the queen said yes. Ceres enjoyed the child and did not want him to die so she wanted to turn him into a god. Every night she poured a magical liquid on the baby and held him into the fire.The queen didn't like the changes with her son and when she saw Ceres putting him in the fire. The queen screamed for help. After the temple was done Ceres did a not help them so Jupiter had to return Proserpina back.

- Jupiter sent Mercury the messenger god to tell Pluto to return Proserpina.When he got to the underworld he came to a misty throne room where Pluto and Proserpina were sitting. Mercury said,¨Jupiter has order you to return Proserpina to Ceres. Otherwise she will destroy the earth.¨ Pluto knew he could not disobey Jupiter, but he didit want his wife to leave forever, so he said, he can go but first we must be alone.
- If you stay you will be the queen of the underworld
- I really miss my mother so I must go.
- Proserpina ate the seed. Then Pluto's chariot carried her and Mercury away.
- When Ceres saw Proserpina she ran to her and they had warm embrace. All day the two talked about what had happened, but Proserpina told Ceres about eating the pomegranate seed Ceres hid her face sadly.
- What have I done?!
- You have eaten the food of the underworld.Now you must return for half of every year to live with Pluto, your husband.
- And this is how the seasons began-- for when fall and winter come, the earth grows cold because Proserpina lives with Pluto, and her mother is sad. But when her daughter returns Ceres turns the world to spring and summer. The corn grows,and everything blooms again.
