Storyboard Text

  • He must be killed, or I will be killed
  • I will take him to the King and Queen of Corinth
  • Here, take this child, I am unable to kill him
  • The king and queen aren't your real parents
  • If this is true, I shall travel to Thebes
  • Oedipus is born to King Lais and Queen Jocasta. King Lais is warned that there is a terrible prophecy on his son, so he sends a servant to hang and kill Oedipus to prevent the prophecy.
  • The servant takes the child to hang him by his feet from a tree. However, the servant cannot do it and decides to give the child to a Shepard. The Shepard then takes the child to King Polybus and Queen Menrope.

  • Oedipus now had been living with the King and Queen of Corinth and is told by a drunk that the King and Queen aren't his real parents. After hearing this Oedipus decides to leave for Thebes.
  • While traveling to Thebes, Oedipus is involved in road rage at an intersection. Oedipus kills his father and his guards, but he was unaware of this. The first part of the prophecy was complete.
  • Once Oedipus reaches Thebes, he realizes that the city is under attack by a Sphinx. The creature will keep terrorizing the city until someone solves her riddle. The person to solve the riddle would marry the queen of Thebes who is actually Oedipus's mother.
  • Oedipus defeats the Sphinx and marries his mother, not knowing it's her. Because the prophecy has been fulfilled, there is a terrible plague among Thebes. Once Oedipus figures out that he has completed the prophecy, he rips his eyes out with his dead wife's jewlery. He is then exiled out of Thebes
