- I was 16 when I ran away from home. I had no money, no shelter, and no one to help me

- While traveling through France to get ideas for writing articles

- But once I got enough money I left Australia for Europe in 1932.

- Having witnessing the brutality of the Nazi regime as a journalist

- I started working as a journalist to support myself

- Until I found work as a nurse
- I decided to join the French Renaissance in 1940 with my husband to help the Jewish people.
- Eventually I became one of the most wanted renaissance leaders of the Gestapo and was forced to flee France.
- During the liberation of France from the German invasion

- After a while I was later parachuted into the Auvergne region in Central France where I worked to distribute weapons among the renaissance fighters.
- I began to work in the French Section of the Special Operations Executive.
