  • It's a lovely day outside my sweetheart but something feels off for me. I'm now ready to learn more about Judaism. I just don't know where to start. I have appreciated you for letting me take my time in this process but now that our daughters are older, I want to find a place for myself in Judaism and also at Beth El. What do you recommend?
  • Thanks, honey, for asking about this. I never want to pressure you into learning more about Judaism. It has to come from inside you. Since you asked, I just heard about a new class Dr. Eliyahu has started at Beth El called Challah My Way. Do you want to check it out with me? You do love to bake, and you make the best cookies ever!

  • Are you sure I'll feel accepted there? I'm worried I won't feel like I'm part of the community. I wear my St. Christoper metal my father gave me not because I'm a religious Catholic but because of my connection with my father. Wearing the Magen David that Elora gave me is so special. I really want to learn more about Judaism and move forward with embracing the faith. do you think Challah My Way is a good place to start?
  • I think the Challah My Way class is the perfect place for you to start your Jewish journey. There will be other interfaith couples there and it would be great to make some new friends. I really love all the good questions you are asking. I think we should meet with Dr. Eliyahu and talk with him about our journey. I think you will enjoy the class at Beth El. You are an important part of our community and I'm glad you interested in learning more. Let's go this Sunday to check it out.

  • I'm so glad we came to Challah My Way today. I made some new friends and felt really accepted and like I had a place at the table of learning in the Beth El community. Thanks for encouraging me to check it out. I think your gentle approach really helped me come to terms with my own identity. If I was forced to attend, I think I wouldn't like it as much. I'm so looking forward to making challah with you on Friday and to observing Shabbat.
  • That's wonderful. You know, we've been married for many years and your being born not Jewish was never an issue for me and it never will be. I love you for who you are, and you are enough. I will be with you on your Jewish journey side by side. You are so important to me and our family. I'm really looking forward to the next Challah My Way session and to baking challah with you on Friday for Shabbat.
