- Ground Squirrel (Otospermophilus beecheyi)
- Coyote (Canis latrans)
- Disturbance #2: A fire has started from a campfire not being put out properly. This is the start of a Secondary Succession, where dirt remains.
- Year: 2221
- After the fire, the floor that was once covered in a forest with lush trees is now only dirt.
- Year: 2300
- Wildlife and plants began to come and develop the ecosystem. The coyote who is the scavenger brings trees and animals to the ecosystem.
- Year: 2350
- An Apple Tree (Malus domestica)
- It has been 70 years since the scavenger brought the seeds of trees to the land. The trees are now tall and house shade for many new animals and plants.
- Deer (Odocoileus virginiananus)
- 80 years later, the ecosystem is sprawling this ecosystem is a forest ecosystem. It has a lot of biodiversity in its plants and animals including flowers, mammals, and insects. This ecosystem is very cold and snowy in the winter and nice in the summer.
- After just a short 328 years, what was once a lush forest is now a forest with colorful plants and a variety of wildlife. It is a great example of the intermediate disturbance hypothesis, where an ecosystem grows back better than it was before.
