- THE DUAL NATURE OF LIGHT
- Hi everyone, In 1905 I invented special relativity i wrote a paper on what is now called the photoelectric effect. I hypothesized that a beam of light was actually a stream of particles of light WE NOW REFER TO THEM AS A PARTICLE OF LIGHT PHOTON
- LIGHT ALWAYS TRAVEL AT A CONSTANT SPEED, REGARDLESS OF HOW FAST YOU'RE MOVING WHEN YOU MEASURE IT
- in 1864 Maxwell discovered that electric and magnetic field travel through space moving at the same speed of light as waves

- My experiment was based on the hypothesis that if light were wave like in nature then it should behave in manner similar to ripples or waves on pond of water
- In 1817 young proposed that light waves were transverse (vibrating at right angle to the direction of travel ) rather than longitudinal .
