- "Do you know which one is jupiter?” “Jupiter?” He said. “He looked at the stars. “Jack, I have no idea.”He pointed. “Maybe that big one?” “Over there,” said Joseph. He was pointing above the mountains. “How do you know?” said my father. “I always know where Jupiter is,” he said. (Schmidt 24).
- “Joseph,” said Mrs. Stroud, “you can't be a father when you're only fourteen.” “I am a father” “No," said Mrs. Stroud, "you signed away—” ‘I'm Jupiter's father.” said Joseph. “I will always be Jupiter's father.” (Schmidt 84).
- “No,” said Joseph. “No dad, I'm coming. Let’s go.” He came out from behind my father. “Let's go, dad. Leave him here. Let's leave them all here and go.” His fathers arm around me relaxed a little.” (Schmidt 175).
