Everything you see and touch is made up of matter. All matter is made of particles called atoms. Most substances are able to exist in 3 different forms: solid, liquid, or gas. These 3 forms are called the 3 states of matter and are made up of molecules that pack together in different ways.Solids: The molecules in a solid are tightly packed together by bonds. The bonds are strong and keep he molecules in place and gives a solid a fixed shape.Liquids: The molecule sin a liquid slip and slide around each other because the bonds in a liquid are weaker than those in a solid.Gases: The molecules in a gas have no bonds which allows them to move freely. These 3 states can freeze or melt and when that happens, it changes states and can happen depending on the temperature ad losses or gains energy in that process.
