- Christopher Columbus, Italian explorer for Spain, he was looking for a faster and safer route to Asia, he landed on San Salvador in October 1492
- Pineda set out from Jamaica to map the coast of the gulf of Mexico. He was the first European to observe the Texas coast, some of his men were arrested by Hernan Cortes
- Hernan Cortes was sent to present day Mexico by the governor of Cuba in 1519. The Aztecs viewed Cortes and his men as gods. The Spain would begin exploring North and South America. Spain was very rich.
- In 1526 Cabeza de Vaca was exploring Florida as a member of the Narvaez expectation. The boats got caught in a hurricane and Cabeza de Vaca on Galveston Island. The Karankawas gave them food and shelter. Cabeza and many other men traveled across Texas from tribe to tribe.
- Coronado and more than 1000 men went in search for the city in 1540. They found the Grand Canyon, the Pacific Ocean, and explored all the way into present day, but never found thw city of gold. Spanish ignored Texas until another country took intrest in te area in 1684
- La Salle was a famous french explorer. In 1648 he arrived in Texas. In 1687, only 45 out of 400 men left for Canada.
