Why are the articles of confederation so weak?
Oh, well. It's because the congress didn't have the power to tax. Also only each state had one vote in congress AND there was no executive branch to pass any acts by congress!
Oh really? what else?
Well also, this affected the economy which also affected the farmers. Thankfully, taxes were removed, however, farmers couldn't export their goods to many places.
Oh, that also must explain why many farmers had to sell their land.
Yes, exactly! The then current economic situation made them sell their own land for money.
I've heard about someone named Daniel Shay when I was speaking about a topic like this before, who exactly is he?
Oh right! I forgot to mention, Daniel Shay was an American Soldier that was also farmer famous because he ended debt collection AND tax policies in Massachusetts.
Ohhh, I get it now. So Daniel was the one who had been one of the leaders of Shay's Rebellion? Can't believe his actions got rid of both of the tax policies and debt collection.
Yeah! Also, one more thing I have to mention.
Huh, what is it?
Shay's rebellion led to the constitution to be rewritten, but stronger. One of the reasons he demonstrated was because how the old constitution was that it called for confederacy.
