- So Ayeza, I remember you telling me you immigrated to Canada. What country did you immigrate from?
- I immigrated from Afghanistan! About five years ago I immigrated to Canada with my husband and daughter. There was lots of violence, fear, and poverty so both my husband and I agreed that we wanted to give our daughter a better life. My cousin had moved a few years before we considered immigrating and he had told us how great it was in Canada. This ended up swaying us even more.
- I remember you telling me you immigrated as well. Where did you immigrate from?
- That is so interesting to hear! I immigrated from Jamaica. Ten years ago I applied for immigration and was accepted about 5 years ago and couldn't wish for a better country to live in!
- When I deciding where to immigrate, I was choosing between the U.S or Canada. I wanted to immigrate for two main reasons. While waiting for our applications to be accepted, I worked in Jamaica but the pay was never enough to support my family of six. I compared the salary from there to Canada's and there was huge difference. During this time, my mother also was fighting cancer and she needed the proper healthcare. Canadas healthcare happened to be really good and compared to the U.S, it was free. Now my mother is healthy again!
