Storyboard Text

  • "Yippeeee!!!"
  • "Stare"
  • Still happy
  • "Nigger"
  • Hello.
  • The title of this poem is “incident”, so I’m guessing that something must have happened. However, the fact that the author remembers and even writes a poem on this “incident” must mean that the vent was either important, unforgettable or a turning point in his life.
  • ???????????
  • While riding in Baltimore, a happy child was called the "N" by one of his Caucasian peers. This "incident" stuck with him fro the rest of the trip.
  • Why did he call me that word.
  • The figurative language used in this short story was an anecdote. this is simply because the story is being remembered and told. The tone was informative.
  • Why did he call me that word. What did i do to him.
  • The shift happened when the child was called the "N" word. the mood went from being all happy and innocent to not being able to forget something that could possibly be traumatic.
  • For the most part we were right on the mark with our prediction. "The incident" was something unforgettable that happened to the author.
  • In my opinion, the poem's main idea is that it all starts with our chilf=dren. If we want to end racism we will have to teach our kids why its bad. The way that those that want to continue the cycle of racism would teach they're kids accordingly.
