  • So, how can mercury affect your health?
  • Let me explain it to you.
  • The chemical element, mercury, can be very dangerous because as mercury vapor is inhaled, it is easily absorbed by the body, where it#160; gets into the lungs and from there into the blood and the brain.
  • The inhalation of mercury vapour can produce harmful effects on the nervous, digestive and immune systems. By inhaling mercury, you can cause neurological and behavioural disorders, such as tremors, emotional instability, insomnia, memory loss, neuromuscular changes and headaches.#160;
  • Mercury is a type of toxin called Teratogen, which are chemicals that harm a fetus. Particularly,#160;Methylmercury is an organic form of mercury that can damage the developing brains of human fetuses. Women who consume methylmercury during pregnancy can bear children who have neurological issues because methylmercury has toxic effects on the nervous system during embryonic development.
  • Teratogen
  • Human exposure to metallic mercury occurs primarily from breathing contaminated air. Other forms of mercury poisoning include drinking contaminated water or eating contaminated food, such as contaminated fish. Mercury can also enter the body directly through skin contact.
  • We can prevent mercury emission from human activities. For example, buying mercury-free products, such as healing/cooling thermostats; we could recycled batteries, which contain mercury, so they do not end up in landfills.
