Storyboard Text

  • Castro's first attempt at taking over a military base. This attempt fails because the cubans don't meet him.
  • Castro and his group were arrested for treason. Sentenced to prison and serves time (not the full sentence), but during his trial castro remains open and honest, making the claims that Batista was illegal and should be replaced. He garnered sympathy only when the public became aware that Batista ordered the people to be tortured to death.
  • Castro is forced out of Cuba and goes to Mexico, where he meets Che who becomes the military advisor to Castro, in charge of the guerrilla tactics, and pro-communist. Che helps convince Castro to go back to Cuba and take over, all the while Che is by his side.
  • Castro finally makes his way back to Cuba, for a second failed attempt at taking over the same military base. He has delays coming back which is part of the reason why it delays. Once back he heads into the mountains because he isn't supposed to be in Cuba. However, Batista knows this and is actively looking for Castro.
  • While in the Mountains, Castro listened to the peasants and compensated them for their silence. Making sure they were paid for food, got medical care from Che, and he taught them basic reading, writing, and maths; doing all of this garnered sympathy from the peasants and gained a group called the fidelistros.
  • Then the military crusades began, significantly is the comeback that the Castro has against the inexperienced troops with rigging minefields, and then soldiers literally surrendering weapons. Giving Castro what he needed to take over, access to weapons. Once he had weapons it wasn't much longer until he had control of Santiago and Santa Clara; and until Batista flees. From there Castro begins implementing a new system that he doesn'timmediately takes control of.
