- Ponyboy and Johnny think that this is their fault and they decide hastily without thinking to go in the fire and save the kids stuck in the church. Since they have already done one sin they don't want another, but Dally is scared and tries to stop them but he can't. Boldly by the will of there mouth they marched in, with pride and honour for the name with the held with honour “Greaser”.
- As the church is in shambles, with wood and stone fillings, Johnny wasn’t scared, but proud for what he did. He saved those helpless kids, and became a hero across the paper’s
- When they reach the hospital, they are unconscious and Johnny is on a plasma treatment. Ponyboy recovers well after they arrive, though it’s not the same for the others, they are hurt, and Ponyboy deep down feels bad for them.
- They reach the hospital in a ambulance and are unconscious and Johnny is on plasma. Ponyboy is doing well at the hospital, and is feeling better, though his friends couldn’t say the same.
- They had Johnny on one bed and Dally on the other both in really bad shape. Not doing so well. They all wanted to leave, but we’re forced to stay. Not much could be done to Johnny, as his time was ticking away, those who loved him stood by his side. Though with all his strength he perceived through, and was able to see his friends for quite some time.
- Ponyboy was missing Darry and Sodapop, and when he saw when at the hospital gates he got emotional, and was truly happy and realized they care so much about him. They hugged for a long time, and it was very heart warming for all of them.
