  • In his story, Harrison Bergeron Kurt Vonnegut wanted to point out the negative impact that society would have if all humans reached equality. He made his point by using Harrison and his family as an example. When all humans were equal in this story, they did not all reach their full potential but instead were dumbed down and brainwashed by the government Vonnegut shows an example of this with Harrison's mom when she watched Harrison get killed. Vonnegut made it into an absurd scene by how Harrisons mother reacted to the situation. In conclusion, the overall point that Vonnegut was trying to prove through his story is that human equality is not always a positive achievement but can be very dangerous.
