Obviously in world war ll there were many air-raid practices that had to be done, incase there were ever an air-raid, and Silvey had one that day. She was paired with Chuen and June for the air-raid. Their house was to far away from the school so they went to the Western Park, which was across the playground and stayed there until the "all clear" sirens went off.
Soon, just stay really quiet

The Americans came to New Zealand to help fight against the war! The people feel more safe knowing that there are people looking out for them. The government decide to throw a parade to celebrate the two countries coming together to fight. After the parade Silvey's family meet these three soldiers, their names are Harry, Tom, and Wayne. The family and the soldiers become close after time and Silvey slowly develop feelings for Tom!

The Chan family had terrible news. First Sunny had a letter saying that he and his dad are moving to away to Whanganui! And later Wayne, Harry and Tom arrive with worse news. Their going to go to war! They all were heavily torn. Tom Harry and Wayne said their goodbyes and leave. Silvey doesn't want to know what will happen with them, especially Tom. But what was left was memories and tears that were remembered
