The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street Mankind is its own worst enemy
In the story monsters are due o maple street one of the themes is mankind is its own worst enemy because of the actions done on pg number 82 it shows how they killed Pete van Horn for no reason other than their superstitions This shows that they are their own enemy because they killed someone only because of their imagination. Another reason mankind is their own worst enemy is because of the chaotic scene at the end where people were going crazy and murdering and injuring all because the lights flickered and the cars turned on. This shows that mankind is its own enemy becuase they are all killing each other and are unable to trust each other. The last reason for this theme is that when Charlie shot Pete they all turned on him to use as a scapegoat and beat him up he also tried to give someone else the blame by claiming he knew who was the alien invader. This shows that mankind is its own enemy because beating someone up and giving a little kid the blame shows you cant trust him or anyone else. in conclusion mankind is= its own worst enemy
