Both of my very close friends were having their birthday parties on the same night, it wouldn't be possible to go to both.

Hi, I actually can't go to your party because my other friend invited me to hers a week before. We should celebrate another time and I am so sorry I can't make it!
Eventhough my choice seems obvious since the other friend invited me first, I've known my second friend longer and had never been able to go to her parties, this one was especially important since it was her sweet 16th. I also knew that I would have more fun at the 1st friend's party, but that felt like a bad reason to choose it.
Ultimately my friend was understanding, and I did not regret my choice. She invited me first and I had already said yes, so it was most honest. (It was also a really fun party).
