Storyboard Text

  • A long time ago, there lived a powerful chief. He was distinguished from other men in the fact that he had the sign of the full moon on his arm. He had many children, but none had the full moon's mark, which made him disappointed and without an heir.
  • The Chief had two wives. The eldest was the mother of many children, while the younger wife had none. Because of this, the elder wife looked down on the younger. Eventually, the younger wife had a son and was glad because this son had the sign of royalty on his arm.
  • The birth of this son caused the elder wife to become jealous. That night when the younger wife was asleep, she took the child and threw him under a rug, thinking she killed him. The eldest wife then placed a puppy in the younger wife's arms and went to inform the Chief that the child was a demon and had to be killed.
  • Later, the eldest wife finds that the child hadn't been killed and had crawled from underneath the rug. The Child began playing with a mouse and the mouse, Knowing that the eldest wife was evil, decided to hide the child in his home.
  • After finding out what happened, the eldest wife commanded that the house of the youngest wife be burned. The mouse overheard the conversation and carried the child to safety in a hut. The eldest wife found the child in the nearby hut and decided to burn this hut down too.
  • The mouse found out about the plan to burn the home and he then took the child to a camp of traders. Years later, he had been taken in by these traders and one of the Chief's people had seen that the boy's face was similar to the Chief's.
