These two friends share their thoughts about science and the effects of human activities on the environment.
Crossing the road, they continue their topic.
Hi, Jaki! So, hos was class?
Hello, Alvin, Science class was great! I cant's wait to tell you what I've learned
So, we discussed population dynamics including density-independent limiting factors and how it affects a population.
Sure!
They decided to continue their conversation on the cafeteria.
Great! Never really heard about the topic. Tell me more about it!
It was stated that natural calamities and human activities may lead to death of individuals in a population or a decrease in the number of species which may slowly cause extinction
Aw, that's awful. I just feel sad knowing that humans can cause an ecosystem to collapse.
But not all calamities are man-made and some other factors that may harm both -- the animals and the environment are food and nutrient limitation and extreme weather condition.
Well, this makes me realize that we should really do our part to help and prevent such circumstances.
Density-independent limiting factors can kill any animal regardless of the population size but its effects can be just as worse as any other occurrence
You're right. I've heard and seen that in the news several times in the past.
That's all I know for now, but I hope that I was able to inspire you to protect the ecosystem and be more careful of your actions.
You too, Jaki!
Yes, you were! Thanks a lot. I learned a lot today. Enjoy the rest of your day, Alvin!
