- Man I can't believe how fertile this soil is. We have so much cotton to harvest.
- Geographic
- Yeah, we are lucky to have such fertile soil and long growing seasons.
- This is the Dread Scott case Where Dread is pleading suing to get freedom for his family 
- Sir I am here to sue on behalf of my wife, myself, and my two daughters for our freedom
- Political
- I am sorry, Slaves are not citizens of the U.S. and you cannot expect any protection from the federal government or the courts.
- I am the wealthiest member of society I own more than 20 slaves even though I am only a small percentage of population I dominate social and political life.
- This is a conversation between a wealthy farmer and a slave. They are talking about what their roll in society is.    
- Society/Social
- Yes sir I understand. I work on your plantation and I hold no rights or freedoms.
- This is a converstion between two wealthy farmers about how the Cotton Gin has dramaticaly improved the economy 
- Eli Whitney was a genius when he developed this cotton gin. It makes separating the seeds from the cotton so much faster, and I make more money.
- Economy
- Definitely! By having slaves, planters and farmers I am also cutting costs. Cotton is my livelihood.
- I sure do like having this river near by to send all my cash crops to ports all over the world.
- Geographic
- Sure does make it easy when our plantations are close to the river.
- This is a conversation between a Poor farmer and a small farmer talking about what their roll in society is. 
- I am a poor farmer from the Appalachian foot-hills and mountains, I am part of the largest segment of the "free" population. I have no slaves and I don't like government.
- Society/Social
- I am a small farmer: I believe in holding slaves but have less than 20 to my name, I do participate in government but, I don't normally hold office.
