  • The storming of the Bastille was when a crowd of Parisians stormed the Bastille on July 14th, 1789. The crowd freed the prisoners and seized the arms and gunpowder stored in the fortress. This led to to the overthrow of King Louis XVI and the start of the French Revolution.
  • We will seize control over this place!

  • After Robespierre was arrested and executed, the reign of terror ended. This led to Napoleon overthrowing the directory by a coup d' etat on November 9th, 1799. Because of this he came to power, which was confirmed by the constitution and preserved the appearance of a Republic, but really established a dictatorship. During his rein he centralized administration of government, a higher education system, a central bank, law codes, and a road/sewer system.

  • The Napoleonic Wars were fought between the first french empire and many European coalitions. His success came from attacking quickly and defeating the disconnected enemy units. A number of losses though, resulted in Napoleons downfall.
