- Ionian Greek states decided to revolt against Persia so Greeks on the mainlands decided to help them and Athens was one of the few city-states and King Darius had gotten upset
- Battle of Salamis
- Athens used tactics that were called the phalanx which the Persians were not familiar with and because of this they won the war
- Battle of Platea
- Leonidas led 300 spartans to defend a key entrance to Greece.all 300 men were killed and were sacrificed for Greece because the stalled the Persians
- Effects of the War
- athens had been evacuated of all women and men went to the ships -Xerxes thought the Athenian navy was retreating and were tricked into small strip of the island-persia ships to big and could not move around -Greek triremes were the reason for winning.
- -Xerxes retreated after the Battle of Salamis - Athenians won in the battle and the Persian Empire never invaded again-Led to Golden Age of Athens the Delian League
- The effects of the war had a lot of people started having hard times in the market and to find homes but it did show that they were in safe territory.
