Jackson believed that the Bank was unconstitutional and was not fair to the common man, because it favored the rich and wealthy. Jackson saw it as a threat to democracy and felt it was bad for the common people.

In 1832, the Bank’s charter (its legal existence) was up for renewal. The Bank’s supporters, including Senator Henry Clay, wanted to renew it, hoping it would help Clay’s political career. Jackson, however, vetoed the renewal, saying the Bank was harmful to the country. This led to a fierce political battle.

By 1836, the Bank’s charter expired, and it was no longer able to operate as the country’s central bank. Jackson's actions were popular with many Americans who felt the Bank was too powerful, but they also led to economic instability. Without the Bank controlling the money supply, the country went through financial problems, including the Panic of 1837, a severe economic depression.
