- John Brown and his people are falling while being attacked for ransacking Harper's Ferry, and stealing the weapons to give them to slaves; so the slaves can help fight for their freedom
- He's dead! John Brown is dead!

- Although greatly displeased with the death of their abolitionist friend John Brown, the Notherns were ecstatic; they viewed brown as a heroic fighter and praised his courage to attempt to steal weapons; however, they knew it was morally wrong what he tried to do and disagreed with him there, they saw his efforts and courage to be celebrated
- he might of been crazy, but he sure had a lot of bravery

- what if more people begin to challenge our way of life and slavery is abolished, we will be broke!
- Meanwhile, in the South, southerners were frightened and worried that John Brown's "lovers," people who supported Brown's fight for freedom, would challenge their way of life; they were filled with rage after hearing about the Northerners who were celebrating Brown.
- Have you heard about the North celebrating that terrorist!? This is outrageous
