Military Effects
During the Meiji Restoration the Japanese had totally transformed their government. The samurai who were usually in charge got down to the lowest ranking and an emperor took their place. They thought that because their government was stronger that they could take on other countries in battle.
Economic Effects
During the Meiji Restoration the Japanese had lots to worry about when it came to their economy. The samurai were very displeased with how low they ranked due to the fact that they were at the highest of classes and now they are grouped with peasants. because of this they revolted and would only stay quiet if the government would pay them. When it came down to payment the government had to spend 1/3 of all its money on payment to the samurai. When the government finally had enough of paying this they advanced commercially and industrially and in turn had the funds to suppress the samurai. But this was the best thing that Japan could have done because it finally grew and modernized as a country.
