  • Actually, the truth is, though it's impossible to say out in the streets, at school, or even anywhere outside of this room, I am a...
  • I'm Joe. And this is my dad (sitting on the other side of the couch). He is currently talking about last night's Yankee game.
  • I live in the Bronx, so being a Yankee fan is a way of life. Sometimes I think it's what holds our relationship together.
  • I can't believe how good Aaron Judge was last night. He was unbelievable!
  • If it's not enough to get greeted by a crazy Yankee fan every morning, I also see the same two guys, talking about the same prospect who is going to make a "real splash" in the next couple of years.
  • My dad even named me Joe after Joe DiMaggio, the great Baseball player for the Yankees. How would he feel if I told him I was a Mets fan. It would kill him.
  • The new prospect is going to make a real splash, I'm telling you.
  • Not today I have a lot of homework. Thanks anyway.
  • I don't really know why I said no to a baseball game. It could be because I don't really like the kid sitting next to me. But most likely it's because I'm not really a Yankee fan.
  • Tonight was a big night for all Baseball fans. The Mets were in the NlCS (National League championship series). The Yankees were already in the World Series, but they were awaiting the winner of this series
  • Joe, me and some of the guys are going to the Yankee game tonight. Do you Want to come?
  • I know it sounds crazy for a kid in the Bronx to be a Mets fan, but I am. It all started when I was five years old. There was a player on the Mets named David Wright. He was the captain of the team at the time. The Yankees had Jeter as their captain, but to me Wright was better in every way, more real, more relatable. And, it felt, sometimes, like I was competing with Jeter for my Dad's attention!
  • Mets fan!!
  • If we're not talking about the Yankees, we don't have much else to talk about.
  • Good
  • How's the food?
  • In the ninth inning the Yankees came back, and they were winning by one run. The Mets had one runner on base and Pete Alonso steped up to bat.
  • No!
  • You can't imagine how hard it was to not scream out of pure joy and excitement. But I was able to keep my composure. Until I got to my room at least.
  • "The pitch. Home run! Home Run! the Mets win the game."
  • No!!!
  • I can't believe they won; I just wish I got share the experience with someone who was also a Met fan.
  • In this room I am kind of able to step away from all the craziness of Yankee fans, and enjoy a great Mets win. In this room I can be real!
  • I didn't mean for them to find out that way, but they did. I couldn't keep my excitement in this time. I could not just hold my excitement in until I got into my room.
  • For the first two games I was going to my friend's house. I was planning on telling them I was a Mets fan game too.
  • I don't know if they can come back from this game. The Mets look really good. Don't you think so?
  • No, I think it's all luck.
  • No!!
  • During the last game of the series, I felt like I had to tell my dad the truth.
  • Oh no.
  • "Home run!! The Mets win".
  • Yes!!
  • No!!
  • " The pitch. High fly ball to deep right field."
  • I can't believe you're a Mets fan!
  • I don't think we can be friends anymore.
  • I did not really see that situation yesterday going any better than it did. I figured that it would be the end of our friendship if I told them.
  • Dad, I have to tell you. I'm a Met fan.
  • What?
  • I was scared to tell you. I thought you would be angry that I would hide something like that from you.
  • Why didn't you ever tell me?
  • To be honest, I was more worried how my dad was going to react if he found out. My friends are big Yankees fans, but being a Yankee's fan is my dad's life.
  • I know, but that's all you ever talked about.
  • You know there is more important things than what team you root for in baseball.
  • Deal.
  • You're right. Let's watch this final game, and then no talking about baseball for a while.
  • Let's go Mets!
  • Come on Yankees!
  • The
  • End
