- The hallway outside the university offices was quiet, the kind of silence that made every whispered word echo louder than it should. Marcus walked past, hands in his pockets, when he heard a familiar voice inside one of the rooms.

- Let’s keep it that way.
- That evening, Marcus slipped quietly into the bank, the hum of fluorescent lights echoing softly. He handed over a cheque labeled “Paid in Full” for Professor Wilkins’ outstanding bills, making sure no one recognized him. The clerk gave a polite nod, and Marcus left as silently as he had entered, his presence like a fleeting shadow.
