- Well, if they don't want to be taxed on paper, then I'll have to find other ways to tax the colonists
- The British assisted the colonists in the French and Indian War, but after this massive effort, Britan was in debt.
- Boston Massacare
- The British then established a tax on official documents in America. Meaning you had to pay to get a marriage document, birth certificate, etc. The colonists didn't like that, so they commenced massive protests in order to achieve a political reform
- Boston Tea Party
- Following the massive failure of the stamp act in America, Britain decided to tax other goods such as sugar, tea, amongst others.
- Intolerable Acts
- The Boston Massacre was a confrontation between "a... patriot... mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks, and a squad of British soldiers. Several colonists were killed" (USHistory.org 1).
- In protest of the new laws passed by the British, the colonists decided to boycott all English tea and let it expire.
- Let their tea rot!!!
- After the Boston Tea party, the British decided to punish the colonists for their insolence. Amongst the many punishments, they colonists' ports would be closed until all the tea destroyed was paid off.
