  • 3. Wow! How many red blood cells do we have?
  • 2. It looks like a basketball that is punctured, the middle curves downward and slopes up on the sides. There is an example on the board! The red blood cells have many jobs! Your red blood cells bring the oxygen from your lungs and carry it to the rest of your body.
  • 1. What does a red blood cell look like?
  • 4. In the average adult, their blood is made up of about 45% of red blood cells. Also, did you know that our red blood cells can live for about 120 days?
  • 2. Its a cell that is sometimes called a "disease fighter". They don't have an exact shape! It fights and destroys bad germs. When you get sick, that mostly means your white blood cells haven't done a very good job. But your white blood cells only make up less than 1% of your blood! The white blood cell is a pale lilac color and they aren't all the same size! They are the shape of a rough circle. Here, let me give you a fact, did you know that the white blood cell can alert your body that there is unwanted germs in the body?
  • 3. Woah!
  • 1. I have heard that there is something called a white blood cell. What's that?
  • 2. They are cell fragments, and they are irregularly shaped. A platelets job is to heal wounds. That's say you get a paper cut, did you ever wonder why it eventually stops bleeding? Well, when you get that paper cut, your platelets rush to that spot and clot it. That's what makes it stops bleeding, it makes a slat over the wound and more keep coming to heal the paper cut. Also, the average adult has about 150,000 to 300,000 platelets in each millimeter of blood, can you believe it? Well since I have been giving you facts after every explanation, so here’s one, did you know the white blood cells are made in your bone marrow? You can look at the board, that is something like what a platelet looks like when it "Splats"
  • 3. No way!
  • 1. My friend was talking about platelets. What are those?
  • 2. Wow! You have many questions! Plasma carries many things throughout your body! They carry nutrence, proteins, hormones and more to different places in your body! It also doesn't really have a shape, it's a yellow substance! Plasma makes up about 54% of the volume of your blood.
  • 1. And also, what is plasma?
  • Oh yes! My fun fact! Did you know plasma is actually yellow?
