  • The Lies That Lie in Ember
  • *Crunch*
  • We're not criminals, the mayor is the criminal
  • The guards must have known that the mayor was stealing
  • The scene, which is in chapter 11, is when Lina sees Lizzie hurrying away from the supply depot while ignoring Lina. Lina wanted to know why Lizzie was ignoring her so she confronted Lizzie. She then accidentally made Lizzie's bag drop and she sees that Lizzie had cans of forgotten foods. I think this scene is important because this interaction shows us that someone was controlling Lizzie in the background.
  • The Row to the End
  • It's all right Poppy, we're going to a new place
  • WAHHHH!
  • Where are we going?
  • The scene, which is in chapter 14, is when Lina and Doon find the way out of Ember. Using the note they found, Lina and Doon discover an underground floor. On that floor, they find a room with boats, paddles, matches, and candles. Though they don't know what to do with them, after some time they found out that the matches were used to start a fire and the candle was used to preserve said fire. I think this scene is important because this is the beginning of them finding the way out of a dying city.
  • Green Here, Green There, Green Everywhere
  • Chirp
  • The scene, which is in chapter 15, is when Lina and Doon become “criminals” because they were spreading “vicious rumors”. Lina and Doon find out that the guards were looking for them because the guards were with the mayor and they were helping him steal. They decide to hide in the school until they could send a message to Clary and use the boat to go to a new city. I think this scene is important because this scene leads you into a new part of the story where they try to exit The City Of Ember.
  • A Glimmer of Hope
  • The scene, which is in chapter 18, is when Lina, Doon and Poppy get on the boat and move on the tide to reach a new place. Lina, Doon and Poppy wanted to exit the city of Ember because it was a dying city and Lina and Doon were criminals. So they went to the room that was underground and they took a boat and went on the river to a rocky cave area. it leads you into a new part of the story and it introduces you to the journal. The journal enlightens you on everything that happened in the past while still leaving some lingering questions in your head such as: what was the catastrophe, where are the rest of the people and did everyone on the outside world go extinct?
  • Splish Splosh
  • The scene, which is in chapter 19, is when Lina, Poppy and Doon see the outside world for the first time ever. Lina, Poppy and Doon find a way out of the cave through a tunnel. They wanted to find out more about the outside world but they couldn't see anyone, so they decided to read the journal that Poppy found. I think this scene is important because it shows you how sad living in Ember is. It also tells you how happy Lina and Doon where when they found a way out, this also allows you to learn more about the past because Lina and Doon where going to read the journal.
  • It's beautiful
  • HAAA!!
  • I'm so glad that the worst didn't happen to us
  • It really is
  • The scene, which is in chapter 20, is when Lina and Doon drop the message to the city of Ember through the crack in the rock. Lina and Doon, wanted to send the city of Ember a message telling them about how to leave the city of Ember and about the outside world. So they decided to send a message wrapped in a t-shirt with a brick inside of it. I think this scene is important because it is the last scene in the story and because it makes you want to read the next story. It’s also important because it shows that Lina and Doon aren’t selfish and instead they wanted everyone they knew to survive even the people they didn't like
  • Bang
  • From Lina. Oh this must be important
  • What is this?
