  • Nia, Hurry! I'm running late for work and need to drop you off.
  • Coming! mom
  • We're here!
  • Yay!
  • Bye sweetie!
  • Bye Mom!
  • Hi, Nana May
  • Oh my Nini you have grown so big
  • Yay!
  • Nini, I have an amazing story to tell you
  • I can't wait!
  • But first let me tell you about Anansi
  • One day, Nyame gave Anansi the spider a special gift
  • Anansi orignated from the Akan- Ashanti people in Ghana in West Africa
  • Interesting Nana!
  • a person who is greatly admired by many people of a particular kind or in a particular place
  • Who is a Folk hero Nana?
  • Finally! Nana
  • Now time for the story!
  • Long ago, people knew very little about farming tools or how to weave cloths
  • Nyame, the god of heaven kept all the wisdom stored up in a clay pot
  • The pot with all the wisdom in it
  • Anansi was so exicted. He did want share it with anyone
  • Anansi decided to keep the pot away from the world
  • Oh no!
  • He tied a rope around the pot of wisdom and hung it down in front of him
  • so he would be able to climb a tree. Anansi found it diffcult to climb a tree
  • He was beginning to get very impatient, tired and bruised. Anansi's son had been standng at the bottom of the tree watching
  • Suddenly, he said "but father, wouldn't it be easier to climb if you tied the pot to your back instead?"
  • Anansi tried tying the clay pot full of wisdom to his back and it was alot easier .
  • But then stopped and thought,
  • I'm supposed to be the one with all the wisdom and here this little child was smarter than me".
  • Anansi was so angry about this, that he threw the clay pot down, out of the tree. It smashed into pieces on the ground
  • Of course, all the wisdom got out and flew away, all over the world
  • That is how people learned to farm and to make clothes and to make iron and all the other people know how to do
