- The Captain and Chief Priest confused how the escaped
- The Apostles continue to preach
- But during the night an angelof the Lord opened the doors of the jailand brought them out.“Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”
- The Chief Priest demands why they are doing this
- “We found the jail securely locked, with the guards standing at the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside.”On hearing this report, the captain of the temple guard and the chief priestswere at a loss, wondering what this might lead to.
- The Apostles were soon to be killed

- During their search for the apostles, civilians came up to them and said,“Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.”So the officers brought to the chief priest
- The Apostles continued to preach
- Angered, the priest demanded to know why they are preaching and they reply by saying, God Exalted him to his own right Hand as Prince andSaviour that he might Israel to repentance and forgive their sin.
- After this response the Council was furious and wanted them on death row but a man on the council by the name of Gamaliel warns them not to as they would be fighting God and had them released.
- The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicingbecause they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.Day after day, in the temple courtsand from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good newsthat Jesus is the Messiah.
