- At first mexico encouraged Americans to settle in Texas. Then The Americans greatly out numbered the Tejanos. So the Mexico Issued a decree.

- In 1835 the conflict grew violent. In December of that year. The Texans captured the city of San Antonio from a larger Mexican force. This made Santa Anna mad. So he took his army to San Antonio in late February. There they found a Texan force barricaded in a building called the Alamo.

- The Texans had only 180 solders to take on Santa Anna's army of several thousand. For 13 long days of attacks The Alamo definers had defeated. The would cry REMEMBER THE ALAMO!
- During the Alamo, Texas met with the leaders of Washington-on-the-Brazos. The Texans leaders set up a temporary government. Houston gathered an army of about 900. Then they launched a surprise attack, shouting Remember The Alamo. They killed more then 600 soldiers.
