- In Melbourne, in 1914. John, Yvan's dad goes to the war in Gallipoli, a place that is now called Gelibolu and ironically means 'Beautiful City'.
- Sorry, son but I have to defend our nation.
- No ! Daddy please! Stay here, we need you!
- But after leaving Australia, they did not go to Gallipoli straight away. The first thing they did was training in Egypt, Cairo.
- Wow..This reminds me of the Australian outback. But still, it is very different. No kangaroos in sight and war not so far from here....
- Then, after training, on the 25th of April 1915, the ANZACS landed in Gallipoli
- War is such a nightmare... Still, we are here defending the right cause, fighting for our values and trying to make the world a better place.
- Thinking about my wife Carla and my son Yvan will give me the strength I need to fight...
- Meanwhile, in Yvan's home in Melbourne.
- I miss him too, darling! I think I've read his letters a hundred times... But all we can do now is be patient and hope for the best...
- Mom, when will Dad come back from the war? I miss him so much. It seems like he's been gone forever...
- But unfortunately, John died on the battlefield, before he could get reunited with his family...
- Yvan, Carla...I love you more than anything and my last thoughts are for you two..
- In the meantime, in Melbourne...
- What's going on darling? I heard you screaming in the middle of the night. I think you've just had a nightmare, right?
- Mummy, it's not only this. I have a bad feeling about this war. I think something might have happened to dad...
