- You really have to wonder what the general staff to command in the first place. 11 futile battles along the Isonzo that costed hundreds of thousands of men only for less than 10 miles, how did Cadorna even get away with 11 battles?!

- After the disastrous Italian defeat at the Battle of Caporetto on October-November 1918, the Italian Northern Front was pushed all the way back to the Piave River, just 30 km north of Venice. Faced with the disaster at Caporetto, Italian general Luigi Cadorna was relieved of his post as Chief of Staff.
