- Give me the map there. Know that we have divided In three our kingdom, and 'tis our fast intent To shake all cares and business from our age, Conferring them on younger strengths while we Unburdened crawl toward death.
- King Lear making his decision to retire because of his old age and give his kingdom away to his daughters.

- King Lear decides to divide his kingdom into three parts and bestow them upon his daughters, Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. However, before doing so, he poses a seemingly innocent question to each of them: "Which of you shall we say doth love us most?
- Sir, I love you more than word can wield the matter

- Which of you shall we say doth love us most? That we our largest bounty may extend.
- King Lear, asked his favorite daughter, Cordelia to express the depth of her love for him. Cordelia, being an honest and sincere person, chose to speak from the heart rather than flatter him with empty words. She replied with a simple statement that she loved him as a daughter should.
- Cordelia how much do you love me, speak?
- What shall Cordelia speak? Love, and be silent.
- I love you as much as a daughter should
