The lawsuit ended with Gradwitz owning the land.Gradwitz wanted Georg Znaeym dead due to a longstanding feud and land dispute after the lawsuit between the two. Gradwitz also suspected that Znaeym was poaching on his land. Georg Znaeym had also wished death upon Gradwitz because he believed that he was the rightful owned of the land, and disagrees with the outcome of the lawsuit.You can see this in the quote "...the dispossessed party had never acquiesced in the judgement of the Courts..." (Saki 1).The grudges had continued for a long time, shown in the quote: "The neighbor feud had grown into a personal one since Ulrich had come to be the head of the family..." (Saki 1).
