  • Throughout Paul's time staying in boarding homes there were a lot of institutional failures but the main one we are looking at is how Paul didn't have adequate child care. The government and their policies failed him and his homes he stayed in were never meant for children.
  • Child Welfare is a step closer to Reconciliation and is the first Call to Action out of all 94 Calls. Acknowledging the actions that were made is a step closer to Reconciliation by learning about it.

  • The TRC report states "Together, Canadians must do more than just talk about reconciliation; we must learn how to practise reconciliation in our everyday lives" (Pg. 28). Instead of just talking about what we can do to reconcile I want you to do more research to learn about more then what we learned today about Paul. You can go and read the Calls to Action or go do your own research.

  • Call to Action Child Welfare. This action states that all governments in Canada need to commit to reducing the amount of Aboriginal children in bad homes by:- Investigating and monitoring neglect in homes- Provide resources to Aboriginal communities and Child Welfare organizations to keep Aboriginal families together and safe.- Make sure social workers and people who investigate Child Welfare are educated- Make sure the people who make the child-welfare decisions consider what the residential school experience on children and their caregiver has had on them.
