- “Simply this: hunting had ceased to be what you call ‘a sporting proposition.’ It had become too easy. I alwaysgot my quarry.27 Always. There is no greater bore than perfection.”

- “Hunting? Great Guns, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder.”
- Rainsford washes up on the island after falling off a boat.He starts to walk around the island until he finds a huge building. He walks closer, and begins to knock. He was greeted by a very large man with a gun.
- You then shall be hunted.
- Ivan invites Rainsford in, and they begin talking and looking around. A new man named General Zaroff came along, and started telling about his big hunting game.
- General Zaroff was giving hints away that he hunts humans. Rainsford began to worry, after he realized the truth.
- General explains to Rainsford that he will be hunted next. This is the 'game'. General Zaroff will give Rainsford a couple hours in the forest to prepare for the hunt. After those hours Zaroff will be on his way.
- Rainsford is hiding from General Zaroff. Rainsford tried setting traps, one killed Ivan and anotehr killed a hound dog. Rainsford gets away from Zaroff and he jumps into the ocean. Then Rainsford swims around to the building.
- Rainsford sneaks into General Zaroffs room, and surprises him. He throws General Zaroff out the window and the hounds end up eating him. Rainsford then sleeps in the bed, and has a peaceful night.
