- Starling and Yow arrive at the storage unit where Raspail's car has sat since his death. The secured unit has "6 inches of sodden leaves, mixed with paper cups and small trash". There is a lock on the door.
- I think I will be able to unlock it. How about you wait in the car?
- This storage unit has been left untouched for years. You see the lock? Raspail's car and other things are only in here.
- Slide: 2
- How about we wait for someone else to do this?
- No, I will use the bumper jack and I will slide in.
- Yes, I do hear them. I will still go in. Please call for help if the door falls.
- It smells like mice in there! Do you hear them?
- Starling manages to unlock the car, and she tries to open the unit. When it fails, Yow comes out of the car and tries to help. He tells her to maybe wait until the next time. Starling refuses and uses a bumper jack to lift it. Yow then mentions the unpleasant smell.
- Slide: 3
- Starling manages to go under the car and into the storage unit. There she finds multiple boxes, spider webs, and things covered under white cloths. The mice run around trying to hide. The foul smell goes through Starling's nostrils.
- Okay Miss Starling?
- I'm okay Yow.
