- I wonder how's my mom and sister doing?
- I don't have any family
- I don't believe you
- What does the character think about? Stella thinks about where her mom and sister are at and if their doing okay. In the story it states, "She hadn't spoken to her sister in thirteen years. Where was Desiree now? How was their mother?"(Bennett 152). Stella thought about these things because she hadn't talked to her mom or sister for years especially her mom. Everytime somebody would bring her family up, she would think if they missed her.
- How does the character look? Stella is black woman who grew up in Mallard, Louisiana. She was always the quiet, passive sister who was content to let Desiree make important decisions. She excelled in school and dreamed of going to college. In the story it states, "She wanted to go to college someday and of course she'd get into Spelman or Howard or whatever else she wanted to go. The thought had always terrified Desiree, Stella moving to Atlanta or D.C. without her. A small part of her felt relieved; now stella couldn;t (Bennett 11). She looked like she was very passice and light akin.very passice and

- What effect do they have on others? Stella lies to her daughter all the time about her family and it affects her daughter and her best friend Loretta. In the story it states, "Once during bedtime, she asked Stella what her mother was like and Stella nearly dropped her notebook. She's not anymore she finally said. But where is she? Gone she said. My family is gone."(Bennett 152). Stella would lie to her daughter even when she was a little girl so that she wouldn't know her past. This hurt Kennedy in so mnay ways because all she wanted to know was about her family.

- What kind of person are they? Stella is twin who is weak minded,shy,standoffish, and a liar. In the story it states, "She was the twin who wouldn't say"(Bennett 151). Stella wouldn't say anything when there was a problem because of how she was weak and shy. If she would've said something to help her from stop getting touched then she wouldn't have as much trauma.
- What actions do they take? Stella does the same thing everyday. In the story it states," Her days blended together, refracting each other..Life felt like this now, her days duplicating one another, but how could she complain?(Bennett 156). Stella restricts herself from most things so she does the same things everyday to entertain herself. She's not happy with it but her life now is better than what she had before so that's why she doesn't complain much.
- Where have they been/where are they going? Stella has moved on to her white passing life in LA with her husband when she got her new job. In the story it states, "Still, she woke up the next morning, put on her nice dress, and rode the streetcar to Canal Street"(Bennett 184). Stella got this because she needed money but she didn't know she would have to pass for white but when she did it took her in a direction she didn't know. Ever sine she got on that bus she has been passing for white.
